Submission Guidelines for MC

In preparing manuscripts for publication in Motor Control, authors should adhere to the guidelines found in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (5th edition, 2001). Copies can be found in most university libraries or may be obtained through the APA Order Dept., P.O. Box 92984, Washington, DC 20090-2984. (http://www.apa.org/books). Tel: 800-374-2721.

Authors may submit research papers, quick communications, commentaries, and target articles. Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via Manuscript Central: http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/hk_mc. Authors are advised to do a final check for accuracy of references, proofread their submissions carefully, and retain a copy of the article to guard against loss. Manuscripts will not be returned. Please adhere to the following guidelines.

Cover Letter: All manuscripts must be accompanied by a letter indicating that the work has been completed with the appropriate approvals for the use of human or animal subjects. In addition, the author must confirm that the paper has not been submitted to any other publication simultaneously. You will have an opportunity to do this as part of the online submission process.

Title Page: With each copy of the manuscript, authors should submit a separate cover sheet including the title of the manuscript, full name of all authors (i.e., first name spelled out), institutional affiliation(s), running head, date of manuscript submission, and full mailing address and e-mail address for each author. The author who is to receive the galley proofs should be identified. This cover sheet should be uploaded as a separate file on the ManuscriptCentral site during electronic submission.

Manuscript: All articles must be preceded by an abstract of 100–150 words. All segments of the manuscript must be double-spaced including the abstract, references, and tables. Label clearly any tables and graphs and include them on separate pages. Number all pages in the upper right corner in this order: title page, abstract, text, references, acknowledgments if any, figure captions, tables, and figures.

Figures and Tables: All art must be professionally prepared, with clean, crisp lines, and be camera-ready; freehand or typewritten lettering will not be accepted. If figures were created electronically, submit the files for them, as well as a hard copy. If photos are used, they should be black and white, clear, and show good contrast. Each figure and photo must be properly identified. In graphs, use black and white only, no shading or color. Keep labels proportionate with the size of the figures on the journal page, which is 4.5 in. wide. Digital images should be 300 dpi at full size for photos and 600 dpi for line art. Format tables in the table function of your word-processing program rather than aligning columns in text with tabs and spaces or using text boxes.

Copyright: Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to Human Kinetics Publishers, Inc.
