APAQ is the official journal of the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity
Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly is an international, multidisciplinary journal designed to stimulate and communicate high scholarly inquiry related to physical activity for special needs populations. Articles appearing in APAQ are informed by a range of disciplines including corrective therapy, gerontology, health care, occupational therapy, pediatrics, physical education, dance, sports medicine, physical therapy, recreation, and rehabilitation.
APAQ has published articles with vital research regarding physical performance of individuals with intellectual disabilities, adults with traumatic brain injuries, international perspectives on the definition of adapted physical activity, the responsibilities and training needs of paraeducators in physical education, and competence satisfaction.
In addition to original research, APAQ provides expert viewpoints related to legislation, regulation, and trends in the profession and allied disciplines; case examples of applied research; recent abstracts of published work from around the world; and media reviews. In addition to the members of the Editorial Board who serve as reviewers, APAQ solicits international scholars who are considered leading experts in their respective field to serve as reviewers.
APAQ is also published in a digital format, providing online subscribers with the same authoritative content of the print edition but with additional advantages, such as the ability to search entire issues in seconds and access back issues. The content of the online version of APAQ is available weeks before the print version arrives by mail, and online subscribers can receive each issue’s table of contents by e-mail when a new issue is published.
