In January 2022, I will enthusiastically take the reins of the Journal of Applied Biomechanics (JAB) from Dr. Michael Madigan as its new Editor-in-Chief. I am honored to succeed him and the distinguished list of prior Editors to become the JAB’s first female Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Madigan has led JAB for the past 5 years through a period of incredible growth and increased visibility, which has attracted even more high quality, high impact submissions for publication and has culminated this year in the Journal’s highest ever Impact Factor. Please join me in thanking Dr. Madigan for his leadership of JAB and service to the field.
Over the next 3 years, I look forward to leading JAB’s continuing rise with the help of the outstanding team of Associate Editors and Editorial Board Members and to serving the Journal’s readership and the broader scientific community to promote the growth of our field. With an interest in pushing the field forward, I will look for manuscripts that challenge current dogma with new ideas, use novel methods, or are otherwise innovative and support a fair, rigorous review process for these potentially controversial papers. As an International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) affiliated journal, I also look forward to helping ISB celebrate its 50th anniversary. Keep an eye out for invited reviews from longstanding ISB members and stories from the early years.
I want to express my endless gratitude to those who serve as reviewers for this journal. Rigorous reviews that are also timely and collegial are critical to promoting the growth of the field and to encouraging and supporting all promising young scientists to continue pursuing careers in biomechanics. Thank you for your interest in JAB, and your time and commitment to advancing science. I look forward to reading your submissions and working together to further build JAB’s strong reputation for publishing outstanding biomechanics research.
