Kathleen Bachynski is an assistant professor of public health at Muhlenberg College. She researches and teaches on topics in sports safety, epidemiology, public health ethics, and the history of sports and medicine. She is the author of No Game for Boys to Play: The History of Youth Football and the Origins of a Public Health Crisis (University of North Carolina Press, 2019).
Sébastien Cala is a PhD student and teaching assistant in the Institute of Sport Sciences at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. Sébastien Cala conducts research in sports history. He is particularly interested in the history of skiing from a socioeconomic perspective, revealing the issues surrounding the spread and development of skiing, a sporting and economic activity, throughout the 20th century.
Georgia Cervin gained her PhD from the University of Western Australia where she is currently an honorary research fellow in the History Discipline Group. Her research interests include histories of gymnastics, Olympic politics, diplomacy, and gender. She recently co-edited a book on biographies of women leaders in global sport in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Tom Fabian is an assistant professor of sport management at St. Francis Xavier University (Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada), cross-appointed between the Departments of Human Kinetics and Management. His primary research interests include sport as heritage, specifically in the context of the marginalization of traditional games around the world; Canadian university sports governance and the institutional history of the Universiade; and the global history of volleyball.
April Henning, PhD, is a lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport at the University of Stirling. Her current research focuses on sport policy, especially as related to athletics and the history of doping.
Jörg Krieger, PhD, is an assistant professor in Sport and Social Science in the Research Unit Sport and Body Culture at Aarhus University, Denmark. In his current research project, he explores the history of World Athletics, formerly the International Association of Athletics Federations.
Emmanuel Macedo is a PhD student in the Department of Kinesiology at the Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on the history and philosophy of sport with a particular emphasis on the history and ethics of doping. His work in the ethics of doping centers on the legitimacy of anti-doping policies in the modern practice of sport.
Callie Batts Maddox is an assistant professor in the Sport Leadership and Management program at Miami University where she teaches classes in the sociocultural study of sport and leisure. Her research interests include the globalization of sport, the history of women’s baseball, and sport and physical culture in contemporary India.
Lindsay Parks Pieper is an associate professor of sport management at the University of Lynchburg, Virginia. Her research focuses on gender issues in sport, women’s sport history, and the history of the Olympics. Dr. Pieper’s book, Sex Testing: Gender Policing in Women’s Sports, chronicles the history of sex testing in elite competitions.
Ian Ritchie, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. Ian’s research interests include performance-enhancing drug use in sport, the history of anti-doping rules and policies, Canadian anti-doping policy, gender and sex determination policies, the history of the Olympic Games, and social theory as it applies to sport and physical culture. Ian is co-author of the book Fastest, Highest, Strongest: A Critique of High-Performance Sport (Routledge, 2006, with Rob Beamish) and he is currently writing a manuscript on the history of anti-doping policies in the modern Olympic Games. Ian lives in Fenwick, Ontario with his wife and three children.
Philippe Vonnard is a SNSF Senior research fellow (on the project “La fabrique des sports nationaux”) in the Institute of Sport Sciences at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He has specialized in the history of internationalization and has published several papers on this topic. He has notably coordinated Beyond Boycotts. Sport during the Cold War in Europe (De Gruyter, 2017) and have written L’Europe dans le monde du football (Peter Lang, 2018). He is member of RERIS (www.reris.net).
